Moranbah, QLD

Moranbah is a modern town which services the surrounding coal mining industry and associated support industries.

The Peak Downs Highway passes through the Belyando Shire, joining Belyando, Nebo, Mackay and Emerald Shires. The Gregory Highway passes through the Shire on the way to Charters Towers and onto Townsville. Moranbah and Clermont have airstrips utilised by private and charter aircraft. Moranbah is now serviced by Macair Airlines five days per week with direct flights to and from Brisbane.

In Moranbah local handicrafts are displayed periodically at the community centre and at the local markets held on the last Sunday on the month in the Town Square.

Moranbah is well known for it’s May Day function, Bronze Title Camp draft and Rodeo.
