O’Reilly’s Rainforest Retreat, Canungra

O’Reilly’s Retreat is situated in the picturesque rainforest covered mountains of the Lamington National Park, 119 kilometres south-west of Brisbane. The O’Reilly family have been welcoming guests into their home since 1926. Visitors from all over the world have enjoyed this special location. It is popular with guests from Australia and overseas. Lamington National Park is World Heritage Listed and is the largest sub-tropical rainforest in Australia. It is home to over 200 bird varieties, 500 waterfalls and has 160 kilometres of walking tracks.

The accommodation provides magnificent views of rolling hills, mountains and valleys. Rooms have no phones, radios or televisions. This allows you to soak up the peaceful sounds of the rainforest. The outlook is especially good at sunset.

O’Reilly’s is famous for its tree-top walk which offers visitors a close up view of the rainforest canopy and its wildlife. Explore on your own or take advantage of the nature Discovery Program. The nature Discovery Program includes guided walks, four wheel drive bus trips, nocturnal walks and glow worm walks, flying fox rides, slide shows and much more. You’ll walk through lush rainforests, past waterfalls, under tree gardens of ferns and orchids, and into the unspoilt world that is yours to explore. Babysitting facilities are available, arrangements must be made prior to arrival. A children’s activity club ‘The Scrub Club’ for children aged five to 12 years, operates during Queensland and New South Wales school holidays and every weekend.
