Campbell Homestead has witnessed five generations of the Campbell family’s kinship with the land that was selected in 1878 by Donald Campbell for his sons. As you step into the hallway, visitors are delighted with the way it has been so lovingly redecorated.
Open fires in both the sitting and dining rooms create a cozy atmosphere. The country kitchen has modern cooking facilities and is warmed by a wood fire stove. Two bathrooms have modern amenities, one has the original claw foot cast iron bath with unlimited hot water to soak away the stresses of modern day living. With four bedrooms, there is ample space for families or small groups, but still there is a real sense of intimacy for a romantic stay. French doors opening on to the verandah entice you out to explore the rambling cottage garden that is surrounded by a spacious park.
The energetic can play tennis, walk to the creek or ride the billy cart. For those who want to relax, the Homestead and garden creates the perfect setting. If you are energetic, there is a tennis court, billy-cart or walks to the creek. Farm activities cater for families who want to experience country farm life – maybe milk a cow, pat a pig, feed a lamb, collect hen eggs and if you’re lucky, witness the magic of the birth of a baby animal.Glorious sunsets and starry nights remind you that you are in the country. The Homestead is self contained with hearty breakfast provisions supplied. Vases of flowers bringing the garden inside and a delicious home made sponge cake greet you upon arrival.
