Winner of the Merit Award for the Best Hosted Accommodation in Western Australia in 2004, Ford House is set in exquisite gardens in Bridgetown. Less than three hours from Perth, yet in the centre of the Southwest, close to Margaret River, Augusta, Pemberton and Walpole. Rolling hills cloaked in forest, wineries, vineyards, orchard and paddocks make a perfect backdrop for historic Ford House, built in 1896.

Ford House was also “Winner of the Best Bed and Breakfast” in Western Australia in 2001, and Finalist in 2002. Ford House offers guests luxurious accommodation and many facilities; the five acre garden with its 600 metre Blackwood River frontage is on the edge of town yet surrounded by dense forest. Guests at historic Ford House enjoy large rooms, French doors onto the terrace and high ceilings at an affordable price. There are single, twin and queen size rooms. The Grand Ballroom has an antique king sized four poster bed and a fire in the room, as well as foxtel, and DVDs, and ensuite. Every room is different.

At Aislinn, also on the property, sheoak floors, Amish quilts and en-suites grace both double rooms. One has a spa overlooking the river. From the sitting room, guests can open tri-fold doors to watch the river pass them by. Warm fires, fresh flowers, books and original artworks enhance all rooms, as do television sets. The intimate Cooks Retreat has every conceivable luxury from a deep two person spa, air-conditioning, spa and Foxtel to chandeliers. Of course it too has a private terrace overlooking the river.

Amidst an eight metre wall of preserved fruit, grand feasts are often held in the Barn. Its century old, hand adzed walls play host to unique banquets, accompanied by home made bread, sauces and desserts. All food provided in the Barn and cafe is made at Ford House. Lunch and picnics are also available.

To finish the stay, home baked bread, preserves, jams, roasted almonds, honey cured bacon and eggs all add to the morning delights of breakfast at Ford House.

Our Cafe, the Tongue and Groove cafe is open by private arrangement. We hold feasts and dinners in “The Barn” at Ford House.

Cooks Retreat

Luxurious, self contained room, with reverse cycle air-conditioning, sheoak floors, a queen size bed, large two person spa under dimmable lights, heated towel rails, a separate shower, and a separate lounge area with compact disc player and compact discs. The room has two sets of french doors opening out onto a private terrace overlooking the Blackwood River. Every luxury is catered for, from hundreds of cookery books, a chandelier made from cooking utensils, and no kitchen, so ideal for a cook in retreat. There are original artworks from all over the world, fresh flowers, television, cable television ( Foxtel ), and video. Tea and coffee facilities and a refrigerator make this the perfect getaway, all nestled in the extensive garden.

The Ballroom

An enormous, gracious room in Historic Ford House, built in 1896. The room, with its two sets of french doors, bay window and wide jarrah floor boards used to be the ballroom for Bridgetown in the 1920’s. Victorian "swag and tail" drapes grace the windows. An extra large (larger than kingsize) brass, four poster bed, built in 1862 is the main feature of the room, with its handmade, grannys flower garden quilt. The room still has all the moden luxuries of television, DVD, video and stereo, as well as cable television (Foxtel). The room also has an luxurious en-suite, and deep, comfortable overstuffed chairs, as well as fresh flowers, original artworks, a tapestry, and a pot belly stove. The windows and doors overlook a beautiful garden of azaleas, birches, fuschias and roses.

Honeymoon suite

A luxurious large six metre by six metre room, with original maple leaf Amish quilts, sheoak floors with a silk persian carpet, luggage rack. The television and video system adds to the little luxuries in the room, together with the original artworks and fresh flowers. An overstuffed sofa is for those casual times, or the elegant table and chairs in the bay window overlook the massive karri trees and bushland. Fluffy towelling robes, towels and a heated towelling rails all add to the relaxation of the large en-suite bathroom with a shower and a two person spa. As guests sit in the spa, they can open the stained glass windows and look out onto the Blackwood River. The room is one of two bedrooms in the building that share a ten metre by four metre communal area, with stereo system and CDs, hundreds of books and original artworks. The lounge has folding doors that open out onto a terrace overlooking the Blackwood River only 30 metres away, and a roaring pot belly (maintained by the owners) to add to the luxury of its chesterfield lounge and enormous overstuffed chairs.

Jarrah room

A beautiful, enormous room (seven metres by four metres), with two sets of sash windows overlooking a garden of roses, bluebells, camellias and maples. The room has a king size bed as well as a single, all plumped up with damask featherdown quilts. Its furniture is predominantly jarrah and English mahogany. The room is decorated with unique original artworks and fresh flowers. Soft towelling robes, heated towelling rails all add to the luxury. The television is skillfully tucked away amongst the hundreds od travel books. Only metres away is the bathroom and the lounge. The lounge has a stereo system, and an open fireplace, as does the dining room, (where tea and coffee is available).

The Rose room

A beautiful room with french doors which lead out onto the balcony overlooking the Blackwood River, and a garden filled with roses, hydrangeas, fuschias and grannys bonnets. The room has a double bed, all plumped up with a damask featherdown quilt. Its furniture is predominantly English oak. The room is decorated with unique original artworks and fresh flowers. Soft towelling robes and a heated towelling raill adds to the luxury. The television is skillfully tucked away. Only metres away is the bathroom and the lounge. The lounge has a stereo system, and an open fireplace, as does the dining room, (where tea and coffee is available).

The Green room

A beautiful room with french doors which lead out onto the balcony overlooking the Blackwood River, and a garden filled with roses, hydrangeas, fuschias and grannys bonnets. A beautiful room with a morrocan feel. The walls, from floor to ceiling (four metres high) are packed with books. Two large sash windows look out onto the historic garden, with its azaleas, bluebells, Jacarandahs and camellias. The room has a single bed, all plumped up with a damask featherdown quilt. Its furniture is predominantly English oak. The room is decorated with unique original artworks and fresh flowers. Only metres away is the bathroom and the lounge. The lounge has a stereo system, and an open fireplace, as does the dining room, (where tea and coffee is available). The whole house is a grand design with a wooden verandah all round, and the house is perched overlooking the Blackwood River.

Jim Thorpe suite

A luxurious large six metre by six metre room, with original Amish quilts on the queen size bed, she oak floors and luggage rack. The television adds to the little luxuries in the room, together with the original artworks. A proper single bed adds to the opportunities so that the room can be used as either a twin or a double.
