Basha at Blackbutt, Blackbutt

Want to escape the frantic city pace for a quiet weekend, week or month of rest and relaxation? Come and experience the slower pace, friendlier people, cleaner air and abundant birdlife at the Basha at Blackbutt.

The Basha is a four star, fully air conditioned, self-contained two bedroom cottage in a timber town gateway to the South Burnett with ample room for up to four people. Winter nights (at 474 metres above sea level and a temperature as low as four degrees celsius) need no excuse for snuggling up before the cosy wood fire, using the compact disc player, television and dvd for favourite tunes and movies. Summer encourages exploration of the many national parks and state forests and cool evening walks to enjoy the solitude of a million stars overhead.

The Basha has a full kitchen, full linen, undercover car accommodation, and a landscaped garden of native and exotic plants with feeding platforms for parrots, currawongs, kookaburras and other regular wildlife visitors. A comprehensive selection of compact discs and DVD’s are available for guests. A complimentary breakfast basket of local produce sourced from local farms and businesses is provided in your cottage.

Your hosts, Jeni and Rob, offer Basha guests a guided drive around the Blackbutt area visiting some of the scenic points such as Jessie’s Well, Emu Creek and Googa. Many guests comment on the diversity of agriculture enterprises around the town and are surprised at the beauty of the local area.

You may choose to explore the region on your own with its many vineyards, fishing, bush walking, horse riding, golf, gliding opportunities and craft outlets. There is almost always a country market, festival, musical function, local dance or celebration happening in the South Burnett on any weekend.

Glasshouse Mountains

The Glasshouse Mountains in the hinterland of Queensland’s Sunshine Coast are actually the cores of 20 million year old volcanoes. The sides of the volcanoes have eroded away leaving only the hardened rock spiremountain cores we see today. Learn more about this awe-inspiring landscape.
