The twin seaside towns of Tannum Sands and Boyne Island are only nine kilometres from Queensland’s Bruce Highway. This fast growing community with two plaza style shopping complexes, hotel, clubs, a myriad of sporting and other facilities is a favourite holiday destination.
The Tannum Beach Caravan Village on the Tannum Sands Esplanade is close to urban facilities while nestled in a quiet bushland setting with access to kilometres of sealed walking and cycling paths (bikes are available). Accommodation includes television cabled caravan and camping sites and basic ensuite cabins to luxury villas. There are a number of covered picnic and barbecue areas, modern resort pool and spa, camp kitchen, tennis, snooker, table tennis and pinball.
The main beach is patrolled by surf lifesavers and perfect for year round swimming. The estuary opposite the Village is a favourite fishing spot. The many kilometres of sheltered water and handy boat ramp provide a haven for fishing, crabbing or just exploring. Kayaks are available.
Tannum Sands is an ideal base, whether your choice is to access coral islands such as Lady Musgrave or Heron or just enjoy the local attractions such as the Awoonga Dam, Cedar Galleries and Artist’s Colony, Gecko Winery or Gladstone‘s Toondoon Gardens (the city of Gladstone is 25 minutes away by road).
As well as the local shopping, the park kiosk also has fresh bread daily, milk, eggs, newspapers, smallgoods and groceries as well as ice, bait, gas, drinks and confectionery. Restaurants and fast food outlets are nearby.
The local hotel and Boyne Island and Tannum Sands Club have meals, entertainment and gambling. There is also golf, bowls and a courtesy bus.
