LifeTime Private Retreats, Kingscote

LifeTime Private Retreats offers secluded and beautiful havens on South Australia’s Kangaroo Island, located a short 30 minute flight from Adelaide. Instead of rooms, suites and restaurants clustered together in one location, you have the use of an individual house set on private acreage away from other guests, but still receive all the services of a private lodge or resort. With no restaurants on site, specialty dining experiences including the candlelit “Shearing Shed” and a variety of tailor made outdoor locations put spontaneity back in to dining. A concerted effort is made to understand a little bit about each guest’s expectations and what is deemed important to you when on holiday, incorporating elements to enhance your stay. “LifeTime is about giving back the life and time to people who need it!” – Rachel Hannaford (Retreat Manager and Chef).

The three secluded and contemporary furnished houses have beach access and either sea or beach views. The sensuous curves of the Cliff House with its glass-walled tower bedroom offers stunning ocean vistas and inspires complete surrender to relaxation. Sleeps six and has a private path down to Snelling Beach. The dangerously romantic Sky House perched on the highest hill offers unsurpassed views of the coastline as far as the eye can see. Sleeps two and is perfect for honeymooners or for those that enjoy blissful isolation and privacy. The Australian heritage three bedroom Stone House (opening 01 August 2005) has the combined charm of its beach and bush setting with a huge feature veranda and open stone fireplace. Sleeps six.

All breakfasts and dinners, wines, spirits and liqueurs served in choice of locations (weather dependant) are included in the “Full Solstice” rate package (lunch optional extra). Optional activities such as daily yoga are available and each retreat is supplied with fun leisure equipment including telescopes, beach equipment and board games. High tea and croquet are offered at the nearby Shearing Shed.

Ideally you will want to enjoy as much free time at the Retreat as possible but understand that the island holds great interest to visitors including famous attractions Seal Bay and Flinders Chase National Park. There is a minimum stay of two nights and LifeTime can arrange private tours and airport transfers. For guests with own transport, we can arrange bookings on the Sealink Ferry which links Cape Jervis (80 kilometres from Adelaide) to Penneshaw. From there it is about a 90 minute drive to LifeTime Private Retreats.

Australia has miles and miles of shoreline but which beaches are really great? Ultimately it depends on what you're looking for in a beach. Pristine wilderness without a single footprint in sight, the sparkle of cosmopolitan high rise on the waters edge, the adrenalin pumping roar of a powerful surf beach, or quite simply the perfect white squeaky sand that squelches between your toes. Glasshouse Mountains

The Glasshouse Mountains in the hinterland of Queensland’s Sunshine Coast are actually the cores of 20 million year old volcanoes. The sides of the volcanoes have eroded away leaving only the hardened rock spiremountain cores we see today. Learn more about this awe-inspiring landscape.
