Mudbrick cottages with cathedral ceilings

The cottages are snug because they were built along passive solar principles. Most of the windows face north to let in the winter sun and there are wide eaves to block out the summer sun. Mudbricks give them a high thermal mass to store heat and smooth out the day-night temperature variation. Timber venetian blinds are also used to control heat loss and gain. The large posts and beams are made from termite-resistant native cypress and the ceiling from plantation pine. The views are rural and very, very relaxing.

Australia has miles and miles of shoreline but which beaches are really great? Ultimately it depends on what you're looking for in a beach. Pristine wilderness without a single footprint in sight, the sparkle of cosmopolitan high rise on the waters edge, the adrenalin pumping roar of a powerful surf beach, or quite simply the perfect white squeaky sand that squelches between your toes.
