Bendleby Ranges, Orroroo

The Bendleby Ranges have wonderful eagle vistas of surrounding rangelands with magnificent red gum studded creeks. Native wild flowers and grasses, following rains, with diverse bird life and dramatic outcrops of moss covered rocks give a taste of an outback experience.

There is a range of four-wheel drive trips, varying from one to five hours. Local scenery and Ridgetop views are spectacular. Drive yourself tours can be matched to your experience and sense of adventure.

Secluded campsites cater for all requirements from single sites through to coach groups, with complete isolation. Two wheel drive and caravan access is possible to some campsites. Hot showers are available within a five to ten minute drive.

The Shearers’ Quarters provide comfortable accommodation for 14, with six bedrooms, a communal bathroom, kitchen and dining area. Gumdale Cottage is a fully self contained three bedroom house, providing accommodation for nine.

Johnburgh School House is in the ghost town of Johnburgh. It has three bedrooms downstairs (one with a queen size bed, one with a double bed and one with twin beds). The original schoolroom has a mezzanine with twin beds, and there is provision to sleep more. The house is fully self-contained with an open fire in the large lounge/dining area and a slow combustion fire in the kitchen.

Gumdale, the Shearers’ Quarters and Johnburgh School House all have an outdoor barbecue and covered eating area.

Glasshouse Mountains

The Glasshouse Mountains in the hinterland of Queensland’s Sunshine Coast are actually the cores of 20 million year old volcanoes. The sides of the volcanoes have eroded away leaving only the hardened rock spiremountain cores we see today. Learn more about this awe-inspiring landscape.
