Aussie Woolshed Backpackers, Hervey Bay

Clean, quiet, friendly, quality accommodation, set in tropical surroundings, right in the centre of Hervey Bay, less than five minutes walk to the beach, shops, supermarket, restaurants, pubs and bars – Aussie Woolshed Backpackers like to do their best to make all their guests feel very welcome and at home, and offer a wide variety of rooms to suit all budgets, expectations and tastes.

Independent Travel Guides describe the Woolshed as “the Best Hostel in Hervey Bay for it’s exceptional quality accommodation” (BUG Backpackers Guide) and “an exquisite range of nicely decorated rooms – one of Australia’s 50 most memorable Hostels.” (Footprints Travel Guide).

Aussie Woolshed Backpackers has also been recommended by Let’s Go, Rough Guides, Loose Travel Book and are one of the few Hervey Bay hostels that have been recommended in the new edition of the Lonely Planet 2006.

A wide range of one, two and three day Fraser Island Tours depart daily from the Woolshed Backpackers and can be booked through the hostel.

Unlike a lot of inner city hostels that lack a garden and pleasant surroundings, rooms at Aussie Woolshed Backpackers spread over three different buildings, situated within a large garden, surrounded by ponds, tropical vegetation, palm trees and gum trees. The natural setting attracts a lot of wildlife – there is daily parrot feeding, possums like to drop in for a visit and Hervey Bay’s famous fruit bats can be spotted every evening as they fly in their thousands over the Woolshed on their way to Fraser Island.

If you would like to meet the other guests, find new friends, have a drink and a chat, why not drop in to their common room. It resembles an Aussie Woolshed, is entirely built of wood and oozes character and atmosphere.

Australia's Best Beaches

Australia has miles and miles of shoreline but which beaches are really great? Ultimately it depends on what you're looking for in a beach. Pristine wilderness without a single footprint in sight, the sparkle of cosmopolitan high rise on the waters edge, the adrenalin pumping roar of a powerful surf beach, or quite simply the perfect white squeaky sand that squelches between your toes. Glasshouse Mountains

The Glasshouse Mountains in the hinterland of Queensland’s Sunshine Coast are actually the cores of 20 million year old volcanoes. The sides of the volcanoes have eroded away leaving only the hardened rock spiremountain cores we see today. Learn more about this awe-inspiring landscape.
