Cobbold Gorge, Forsayth

Cobbold Gorge, a Savannah Guide Station located on a working cattle property, is hidden away in the Gulf Savannah region of North Queensland. This unique narrow gorge is set amid rugged sandstone formations with spectacular 30 metre cliffs that narrow to just two metres wide. A cruise through this unusual gorge is an awesome and unforgettable experience.

In order to protect the fragile environment, access is by guided tour where you will cruise peacefully through the gorge, in an electric powered boat. A range of tours are available from a short cruise to a full day tour taking in some of the history of the surrounding area, or for the more adventurous, join them for a full day four wheel drive tag along tour across the station. Cobbold Gorge offers something to suit everyone including those who enjoy the thrill of a scenic helicopter flight.

There is no need to rough it as accommodation ranges from modern air conditioned ensuite units, to shady campsites and powered caravan sites in their well grassed camping area. McDonalds Deck provides snacks, meals and includes a licensed bar to relax and take in the peaceful atmosphere.

The friendly staff and well informed guides will help make your visit a memorable experience.

If you are limited for time, consider flying in. A well maintained airstrip is located nearby.
