Kilkivan Bush Camping, Kilkivan

A good sealed road takes you six kilometres off the Wide Bay Highway into the foothills of the Oakview State Forest where Kilkivan Bush Camping nestles next to Fat Hen Creek, right on the National Trail.

You will find easy access, clean toilets, hot showers, plenty of spacious level grassy sites, many with power and shade, and experience total peace in a truly beautiful, unspoilt environment.

Camp fires are encouraged, wood is usually available, and well behaved pets are allowed.

The very affordable camping huts are popular; you have a comfortable bed to sleep on but still have the bush camping experience using the camp kitchen and open fire if you wish; great for families or couples just wishing to get away from it all for a few days.

Groups are also welcome; they can even cater for you from their licensed catering kitchen if you wish or just self cater. The Spacious awning seats up to 50, so there’s plenty of room for everyone to eat together.

An ideal spot to hideaway, relax and recharge.

Accommodation Options

Camping Hut

Each camping hut is light and airy. You reserve your own individual hut, so you don’t have to share with strangers, but charges are still by beds occupied, which can be up to six on comfortable bunks; two huts even have double beds. Please bring your own bedding.

Lighting is by low energy fluorescent light you connect to your vehicle and a portable battery lamp is also available.

Adjacent to the huts the camp kitchen has mains electricity, fridge/freezer, gas burners for cooking and hot washing sinks. Bring your own catering equipment or use the equipment available if you wish.

Glasshouse Mountains

The Glasshouse Mountains in the hinterland of Queensland’s Sunshine Coast are actually the cores of 20 million year old volcanoes. The sides of the volcanoes have eroded away leaving only the hardened rock spiremountain cores we see today. Learn more about this awe-inspiring landscape.
