Peppers Convent Hunter Valley, Pokolbin

Peppers Convent was once home to the Brigidine order of nuns in Coonamble, about 600 kilometers from the Hunter Valley. After careful reconstruction this unique retreat now nestles in the magnificent landscaped gardens of the acclaimed Pepper Tree complex just over 2 hours drive north of Sydney.

Inside, the retreat’s recent facelift has created a sense of freshness whilst retaining its elegant French provincial style. Intimate and elegant, the retreat comprises of 17 newly decorated guest rooms. French doors, deep verandahs and huge double beds. You’ll find all the Peppers luxuries you envisaged.

Just a stroll away is the acclaimed Robert’s Restaurant and Pepper Tree Winery and Tasting Barn. Robert’s Restaurant, including the 1878 National Trust listed Pepper Tree Cottage has been described as the Hunter Valley’s most beautiful dining room – and of course, the food is superb and the wine list just as impressive.

Recreational pursuits at Peppers Convent are many and varied and include winery tours, golf, tennis, swimming, bike riding, hot air ballooning, horse and carriage rides … or simply doing nothing at all.

With comfortable antique furniture, pristine gardens and an ambience of peace, tranquillity and homeliness, Peppers Convent Hunter Valley is the perfect venue for a weekend getaway or an extended mid-week stay.
