Flinders Ranges Discovery Tours operate a variety of day and half day tours from Rawnsley Park Station, situated just south of Wilpena Pound in the Flinders Ranges region of South Australia.

Touring Options

Bunyeroo, Brachina Gorges Half Day Tour – RPT05

These well known gorges are located 30 kilometres and 50 kilometres respectively north of Wilpena Pound. Both gorges have running water all year round and offer spectacular rock faces and stunning views. Brachina Gorge has interpretive signs explaining the geological strata and fossilised life forms.

Woolwash Waterhole Half Day Tour – RPT04

The Woolwash is a natural waterhole located 27 kilometres east of Rawnsley Park Station. This unique spot was used by teamsters in the nineteenth century to wash the wool on the journey from Innamincka and Milparinka to Port Augusta. A wicker basket was used to hold the wool and the basket drawn through the water using a flying fox of ropes anchored to a large gum tree on the cliff opposite.

Bunkers Range Half Day Tour – RPT06

The Bunkers Range is located 30 kilometres north-east of Wilpena Pound on Willow Springs Station (private station track). The view from the Kibble Hill Lookout is breathtaking, as is the drive to get there. Also visiting Skull Rock, a unique calcified rock 20 metres high that bears an uncanny resemblance to the human skull.

Skytrek and Mount Caernarvon Day Tour – RPT02

This tour completes a circuit of Willow Springs Station, a 750 square kilometre property that includes landforms ranging from semi desert plains to rugged peaks in the central ranges. The Skytrek along Bunkers Range provides access to an area previously only visited on foot or by horseback. The view from Kibble Hill Lookout is breathtaking, as is the drive to get there. Mount Caernarvon, at 910 metres is the highest vantage point accessible by four wheel drive vehicle in the Flinders Ranges. The view from the summit takes in the whole of the central Flinders Ranges from Lake Torrens in the west to Lake Frome in the north-east.

Rawnsley Park Station Half Day Tour – RPT03

Tour Rawnsley Park Station, a 3,035 hectare property that takes in some of the most spectacular scenery of the Flinders Ranges. Rawnsley Bluff at 930 metres dominates the skyline to the north as you drive through the foothills. The Station runs approximately 1,000 merino sheep that each produce around seven kilograms of wool each year. Likely to see three species of kangaroo on the tour including Red Kangaroo, Western Grey Kangaroo and the Hills Euro.

Flinders Ranges Discovery Day Tour – RPT01

Visit major attractions of the Flinders Ranges National Park. Highlights include Bunyeroo and Brachina Gorges for spectacular scenery, Aroona Valley and Aroona Hut for an excellent example of pug and pine architecture from the 1920’s. Other highlights include Appealinna Ruins, with dry stone buildings dating from 1860. The Dingly Dell historical site and sections of the national park off the main tourist roads. Historic Wilpena Station and the Old Blinman Road, which is the protected area of porcupine grasslands, the natural habitat of Red Kangaroos. Also the spectacular views of St Marys Peak and the Pound Range.
