Lake Eyre Day Tour – DD01

Lake Eyre lies in the very heart of Australia’s outback and is where the great inland rivers of the outback converge. We travel through the Dingo Fence, Anna Creek, Lake Cadibarrawirracanna, William Creek, Lake Eyre National Park and Halligan Bay where we invite you to lunch 15 metres below sea level on the shore of this mystical lake that is impressive, whether covered by a dry salt crust, or filled with water. Learn about the ancient land, how the inland sea was formed, Lake Eyre and the Lake Eyre Basin, the formation of the Great Artesian Basin, the early explorers, flora and fauna, what it is like to live in this arid and diverse desert environment and hear plenty of bush yarns about the outback characters.

. On Saturdays from approximately 0800 to 1800 from March to November, providing we are not going to the Painted Desert.

The Painted Desert Day Tour – DD02

The Painted Desert is an area of spectacular colorful hills that mother nature has taken 80 million years to create. To get there the tour leaves the world famous opal mining town of Coober Pedy and makes its way through the Dingo Fence and Moon Plains. We stop at Mount Barry for morning tea, then onto the Painted Desert for lunch. Learn about this ancient land, how the inland sea was formed, formation of the Great Artesian Basin, the early explorers and flora and fauna. Learn what it is like to live in this arid and diverse desert environment and hear plenty of bush yarns about the outback characters.

. Saturday and Wednesday from approximately 0800 to 1700.
