Jurien Charters

Two and a half hours north of Perth lies Jurien Bay, which is brushed by the clear waters of the Turquoise Coast, only a few minutes drive from Cervantes and the Pinnacles area. The area has many beautiful and accessible limestone reefs, colourful soft and hard coral creates a home to abundant Rock Lobster, Dhufish, Baldchin Groper, many photogenic fish, and other forms of marine life including the Australian sea lion, humpback whales and dolphins.

Swimming off the secluded beaches of the Turquoise Coast is a memorable experience.

The area is also well-known as an underwater photographers’ paradise and has recently been declared a Marine Park.

Jurien Charter’s skippers and divemaster have many years diving experience and knowledge of the area and will take you to explore the many interesting and fascinating limestone reef formations and dive spots.

Scuba dive charters and marine life charters, underwater video, scuba instruction, Oceanic dive equipment, sales, service and SCUBA dive hire is all available. Small size SCUBA units for Asians and children are available. Scuba refills and divers accommodation are also offered. Deep sea fishing and bay fishing charters with fishing tackle and bait provided are also available.

The colony of sea lions, which are four nautical miles south of Jurien, make for an unforgettable half day trip for families and clubs and these fascinating creatures love animal interaction and showing off in front of the camera. Jurien Charters are government registered Marine Mammal Interaction guides for both sea lion and Humpback whales.

The Australian Sea Lion (neophoca cinerea) is one of the worlds rarest pinnepeds, with a population of between 9 300 to 11 700 ranging from the Abrolhos Islands in Western Australia to The Pages off the South Australian Coast. (They were exterminated by hunting in the Bass Strait). Today sea lion numbers are slowly increasing and all offshore islands in Western Australia with sea lion colonies are nature reserves.

Visitation to these islands is restricted to allow for minimum disturbance to these friendly and fascinating marine mammals.

Jurien Bay is close to Mount Leseur National Park which is world famous for it’s wildflowers. Stockyard Gully Caves is a 350 metre long tunnel formed by a the river disolving the limestone. Stockyard Gully is 35 kilometres north east from Jurien Bay. A four wheeled drive (4WD) vehicle is required for the last five kilometres.

Touring Options

Sea Lion Tour

Cruise to Essex Rocks sea lion colony four nautical miles south of Jurien. The tour lasts two and a half hours and includes morning or afternoon tea.

Fishing

Jurien Charters have an 11 metre Catarmaran licenced for 23 Passengers . A maximum of 10 fishers are taken on a charter which can be either in the bay or offshore.

SCUBA Diving

SCUBA diving charters are conducted from Jurien Bay Marina. SCUBA courses, equipment hire, sales and service available. Cylinder refills available
