The Heartlands day tour includes Clifford’s Honey Farm, Emu Ridge Eucalyptus Distillery, Parndana Wildlife Park, Soldier Settler Museum and Island Pure Sheep Diary.

. Clifford’s Honey Farm – Kangaroo Island is home to the world’s only pure strain of Ligurian Bee. It is illegal to bring any honey products on to the island. Visitors can see bees at work in a glass hive and local apiarists provide interesting information about bee handling, extraction and exporting products. The tour includes a free tasting of the different types of honey produced.

. Emu Ridge Eucalyptus Distillery – first established by Fauldings in 1923, the distillery was reopened in 1991. With regular production each week, using century old methods, oil is distributed throughout Australia. Oil is available for purchase on site.

. Parndana Wildlife Park – an award winning park giving visitors the opportunity to mingle with many of the island’s native animal and bird inhabitants. Hand feeding kangaroos and wallabies, patting a koala and a walk through aviary are part of a really enjoyable animal hour.

. The Soldier Settler Museum – a modern historical display telling the stories of the development of the Soldier Settlement Scheme in the early 1950s. A short stop will give visitors a snap shot of the lives of Kangaroo Island’s settlers before 240 volt power, good roads and telephones existed. Many tales of logging, chaining, dozing and lavvy (lavatory) lane will capture your imagination.

. Island Pure Sheep Dairy – visitors have a rare opportunity to glimpse the making of sheep dairy products from the milking to the tasting. The tour includes a tasting session where you can sample the five different cheeses and two yoghurts produced on site.
