Sydney Architecture Walk – Tours

SAW 01 Sydney | Every Wednesday | 10.30am – 12.30pm

Exploring the dramatic urban-scape of Sydney’s downtown, our subject is the city and the patterns and forces which are shaping the streetscapes of Australia’s most vibrant metropolis. Moving from the general to the specific, the modern to the historic, our focus will be two contemporary city icons: Denton Corker Marshall’s Governor Phillip and Macquarie Towers; and Italian maestro, Renzo Piano’s multi-layered masterpiece, Aurora Place.

SAW 02 Utzon | Every Saturday | 10.30am – 12.30pm

This tour paints a comprehensive portrait of Danish architect J rn Utzon, charting the triumphant, exhilarating and then tragic course of the design and construction of his Sydney Opera House. You will discover the sources of the young architect’s deepest inspiration, his working methods and preoccupations. Utzon’s never-realised schemes for the glass walls and interior of the House will be revealed, and we will bring you up to date on the recent interior upgrade project with which he was involved.

SAW 03 Harbourings | Monthly

Exploring Sydney’s salty edge from Circular Quay, through The Rocks to Walsh Bay, we will discover contemporary architectural projects in and amongst the gritty historic context, focusing on the dramatically re-worked family of finger wharves at Walsh Bay.

SAW 04 Art, place & landscape | Monthly
