Dolphin Watch Cruises

Dolphin Watch Cruises of Jervis Bay commenced operations in 1990, with the primary objective to provide the opportunity for the public to watch the dolphins and whales (seasonal, June through November) and other wildlife in their natural habitat, also to view the pristine natural beauty of Jervis Bay. All in comfort and safety, without adversely affecting the waters or wildlife of Jervis Bay.

There is a resident group of about 60 bottlenose dolphins that spend much of their time in Jervis Bay. These dolphins are wild mammals and have no routine movement patterns. There is no guarantee that you will see dolphins. However our average sighting rate is greater than 95%. We have a policy should you not see dolphins on a dolphin watch cruise, we’ll shout you another cruise, just so long as you take the cruise within 3 months.

The cruise vessel, the MV Tekin III (to escape) is a comfortable and stable three level catamaran with all-round indoor and outdoor panoramic viewing areas. It has all weather protection and a licensed bar. There are video monitors for viewing dolphins when they ride on the bow and a hydrophone for listening to the dolphins and whales as they communicate with each other.

Since 1990 almost 4,000 cruises (with over 500 cruises in 2000) have been completed. Cruises operate daily, generally at 1.00pm. During school holidays and weekends at 10.00am. Times may vary (subject to tides). All cruises are subject to weather and sufficient passenger numbers.

Dolphin Watch Cruises is a 5 times NSW State Winner of Excellence in Tourism. With an Advanced Ecotourism Accreditation which ensures you of a quality experience.
