Touring Options

Wild Brumby Watching

The Brumby is Australia’s wild horse and an important part of our folklore and heritage. Snowy Wilderness is a sactuary for our Brumbies and you can have the privilege of exploring the wilderness country and watching these beautiful and majestic animals in their natural habitat.
The Brumbies usually graze in mobs of up to 10 horses protected and led by a stallion and many of the mares will have a foal at foot. We love our Brumbies and are proud to share this experience with you. Along with watching the Brumbies you can also spy kangaroo, wallaby, emu, wombat, wedge tail eagle, deer, as well as many varieties of bird life and native flora.

4 Wheel Driving

Our guided 4WD Tours are a must for those of you who want to put your 4WD through the ultimate test. Snowy Wilderness 4WD Trails are the most challenging with only experienced drivers able to contemplate the tour. From the Roller Coaster to some of the most rugged terrain in Australia this is truly a test of skill and nerve.
From the comfort of your vehicle you can see the best sights and views of the Snowy Wilderness including glimpses of our beautiful wild life. You bring your own vehicle we include tents, camp oven and equipment.

Night Touring

The great thing about the Snowy Wilderness animals is they don’t know which night of the week it is, they come out to play every night. Not to be missed is our signature guided night tours. Starting at sunset, this is the time the wild life starts to play and the Aussie bush comes alive. The Southern Hemisphere stars, without ohter lighting pollution, are an unforgettable experience. Come join us tonight for this unique experience. Night tours are made by 4WD and/or Quad Bike, your choice. Dinner under the stars in the bush is another option of this tour.

Fly Fishing

Snowy Wilderness specializes in the angler who is just starting out of wants to learn more. Ross Smith, is one of Australi’s most experienced fly fishermen and will have you presenting a fly like a professional within 2 hours and catching fish in our abundantly stocked lakes and dams. You can either release the fish or elect to dine out on a fish dinner you will remember forever.
Advanced fly fishing tours to more challenging destinations such as the Snowy River and Lake Jindabyne are also available with Ross who knows all the secret spots where the fish will be.

Quad Biking

Getting astride one of our 500cc top of the range Quad Bikes is exciting and guarantees to get your adrenalin running. The majestic beauty of Snowy Wilderness is combined with terrain that will absolutely exhilarate you. From our 5km Roller Coaster ride to the steepest and most rugged 4WD track to the most serene country with commanding views of our Snowy Mountains or into Victoria, the guided tours on our Quads are a favourite and not to be missed. Being 18 years and over and having sturdy boots is your passport to explore on our Quads. You will never run out of new sights to discover and thrills to be experienced.

Horse Riding

Snowy Wilderness has a selection of the best horses for our environment and Ross Smith and his team of Snowy horsemen will guide you through our terrain with stories that really will stretch your imagination. This is where the tradition of the Man from Snowy River lives on. The country at Snowy Wilderness is challenging and we only cater for experienced riders. For those who are not experienced, guided 4WD or Quad Bike tours are available and you can meet up at the campsites or reception for lunch and/or the end of each day. You can also bring your own horse if you please.
Camp out with our guides and experience a traditional Australian camp oven feast or barbeque under the beautiful stars of our own Southern Hemisphere.
This is the ultimate, your horse, a camp fire, the stars, great food, wine, stories and your own bed with Aussie swag provided, all you bring is your sense of well being and appropriate footwear and clothing.

Trekking and Camping

Snowy Wilderness is perfect for Trekking and Camping. The rugged terrain, flora and fauna allow hikers to experience this wild country first hand. Our camp oven feasts are renowned and the high country stories told by our local guides become more real as the stars become brighter.
