Arthur River

Two and a half hours’ drive south east of Perth on the Albany Highway lies the historic town of Arthur River, which dates back to the early 1850s.

Arthur River’s past is evoked by the town’s grand buildings, many of which have been restored.

The Arthur Wool Shed, which dates back to the 1950s, is a community shearing shed established so that local farmers could bring their sheep to one central location at shearing time. Extensive restoration work has been undertaken on this building and it is now listed as a heritage building.

Farm stays and backpacker accommodations are available.

Australia has miles and miles of shoreline but which beaches are really great? Ultimately it depends on what you're looking for in a beach. Pristine wilderness without a single footprint in sight, the sparkle of cosmopolitan high rise on the waters edge, the adrenalin pumping roar of a powerful surf beach, or quite simply the perfect white squeaky sand that squelches between your toes.
