Rawdon Vale Cottage, Gloucester

The closest cottage to the Barrington Tops, Rawdon Vale Cottage is a “little piece of secluded heaven”. Enjoy the view, the sound of the river bubbling over the rocks below, the smell of waxed antiques and fresh flowers. Restore yourself with your feet up before the open fire or reclining on the sun drenched terrace.

Rawdon Vale is situated 3 1/2 hours north of Sydney, a scenically magnificent place ringed by mountains. Rawdon Vale Cottage is the perfect starting point to discover the natural beauty of the surrounding district. One of the closest cottages to the Barrington and Gloucester Tops, only 30 minutes by vehicle separates you from some of the spectacular views, magic bush walks through ancient Antarctic Beech forests and stunning waterfalls – everything the World Heritage Listed Barrington Tops are famed for.

Perhaps you feel like relaxing and enjoying the simple pleasures of pure mountain water, clean air and the sounds of the land. Rawdon Vale, an established Hereford cattle property since 1845 with an historic stone homestead and other National Trust homes nearby, is one of the earliest settlements in the district. Tours of the homestead can be arranged upon request.

For something a little different, Rawdon Vale Cottage currently has a small art exhibition on display. Artist, Sandy Gray, who regularly visits, paints some lovely landscapes of the surrounding area and some wonderful abstract paintings as well. All her paintings are for sale and can be viewed in the cottage.

Australia's Best Beaches

Australia has miles and miles of shoreline but which beaches are really great? Ultimately it depends on what you're looking for in a beach. Pristine wilderness without a single footprint in sight, the sparkle of cosmopolitan high rise on the waters edge, the adrenalin pumping roar of a powerful surf beach, or quite simply the perfect white squeaky sand that squelches between your toes.
