Quince Cottage, Watervale

Relax in luxury. Quince Cottage is situated on two acres with over an acre of fruit trees. Lovely grounds and gardens and exquisite views of Watervale and the surrounding vineyards. It is equipped with the best of everything.

An original 1920’s sandstone cottage has been painstakingly renovated to the highest standards. Quince consists of a gourmet kitchen and dining area, double size lounge room with open fire, two queen size bedrooms, spa and bathroom, large front verandah, rear patio and barbecue, secret garden and garage. The kitchen has everything you could possibly need, stainless steel fridge, dishwasher, under-bench oven, cook-top, range hood and microwave oven.

The crockery is high quality china, Stanley Roger’s cutlery, European glassware, stainless steel Miska pot and pans, Mundail knives, the works. There is a luxury spa bath that looks into a secret, and completely private Japanese garden. The spa is set in a giant window which protrudes into the enclosed garden, this allows for a glass roof, so guests can sit in the spa and contemplate the sun and the moon.

In the secret garden there are large trees, illuminated by pin lights, a running water pond with a Japanese water feature, white stones and everything to create a peaceful and romantic setting. There are two large bedrooms, the master bedroom has a full ensuite, with large fitted robes, plenty of hanging space and storage areas. The beds are antique, black metal, Victorian and queen size.

The linen is all first class, Sheridan and above. The furnishings are a mixture of antiques and Australian crafted new pieces. Original art adorns the walls, mostly by local artists. In the lounge there is a large wood fire combustion heater. The lounge suite is high quality leather and is very comfortable and welcoming. In addition to the traditional games and books, there are all the creature comforts, such as a Panasonic 72 centimetre television and video machine, DVD player and Sony stereo and compact disk player. There is also a small collection of videos, DVD’s and music.

There is a fully equipped laundry, with top level equipment including washer, drier and iron. In the paved courtyard, patio area there is a barbecue and teak outdoor setting. This area overlooks a beautiful garden and is both private and very attractive. Guests can stroll through the orchard of apples, pears and quince trees that are on the property. Or they can sit on the wide verandah and look over the vines that surround the place. Guests can park undercover in our bush garage. Quince Cottage is in Watervale and is walking distance from three wineries, or four if you don’t mind a 15 minute walk. We are also close to a shop and the Watervale Hotel. It has great views and is very private and quiet.
