Learn to Surf in Australia
Recognised by many as the surfing capital of the world, there is no better place to learn than in Australia. Most of the best surf schools are located in the popular tourist centres on the east coast, but there are options right across the country, from South Australia all the way across to Perth.
It is possible to learn to surf in Australia on short courses that last just a few days or on more intense three-month programmes for those looking to eventually become instructors. Many of these tours include accommodation, food, equipment hire and transportation.
In Sydney, Seven Mile Beach has become a popular spot for people learning to surf in Australia, not least because the city remains one of the country’s main centres for tourism. If you’ve only got a few days, this is a great option, as is the ever-popular Bondi Beach on the fringe of the city.
Queensland offers its fair share of surf schools, including at destinations in and around Brisbane and more secluded areas such as Noosa. In Western Australia, Perth is the nucleus of the surfing scene, with schools available at most popular beaches, including Scarborough Beach.
There are also opportunities to learn to surf on Australia’s west coast in destinations including Albany, Broome and Exmouth, as well as the idyllic Ningaloo Reef. When it comes to riding waves, Australia has the experts.
