Colonial Motel,

The Hawkesbury Region (Richmond & Windsor) is recognized by historians as one of Australia’s third settlements. The first fleet’s priority was to grow their own food to feed the fledging colony and the Hawkesbury’s rich soils, river access and proximity to Sydney Cove provided the perfect conditions for a new settlement.

Discovered via the Hawkesbury River only one year after the first arrived the Region has retained many of its original buildings which create a character and charm throughout the small townships in the area. There are more classified buildings in the Hawkesbury than in the City of Sydney and many date back to the very early 1800’s. Wherever you travel throughout the Region you will find reminders of the very beginning of European settlement including fascinating graveyards, convict relies, old farm sites, churches, and beautiful townships. Our Region provides visitors the perfect opportunity to relive our history and ponder the joys and hardships endured our first settlers all in a friendly country atmosphere so close to Sydney.

Colonial motel is a tranquil retreat offering 3 star luxury accommodation located in 2 acre land with six blocks plus Conference room and A la carte restaurant at 161 March Street in the historic Richmond.

Glasshouse Mountains

The Glasshouse Mountains in the hinterland of Queensland’s Sunshine Coast are actually the cores of 20 million year old volcanoes. The sides of the volcanoes have eroded away leaving only the hardened rock spiremountain cores we see today. Learn more about this awe-inspiring landscape.
